Professor of Computer Science, Scientific Director of EFELIA Côte d'Azur
Lucile Sassatelli is a Full Professor of Computer Science at Université Côte d'Azur, France. She obtained her PhD in 2008 from the University of Cergy-Pontoise, France, and was a postdoral fellow until September 2009 at MIT. She held a research chair with Institut Universitaire de France. Since 2022, she serves as the scientific director of EFELIA Côte d'Azur, a multi-partner project to generalize AI training in all domains. Lucile’s research interests focus on applying AI and ML to address social inequalities. She is the Principal Investigator of an ANR project that involves 6 laboratories in computer and social sciences and develops Computer-Vision-based approaches to study gender representation in films.
The VOILA! Seminar Series, created jointly by the Chair in Economics of AI and Innovation and EFELIA Côte d'Azur, is a major contribution of the latter to its mission: sharing scientific and diverse knowledge about AI to inform and involve all audiences—students, researchers, general public, practitioners, and business—in discussions about AI development and impact. With Simone and Ekaterina, we have designed VOILA! as an inclusive and accessible platform where science answers difficult questions about AI.
